Taking place after the events of Terminator 2: Judgement Day, the series follows Sarah Connor and her teenaged son John as they attempt to prevent the creation of Skynet, a computer system that becomes sentient and attempts to wipe out humankind in the future. In order to protect itself and ensure its creation, Skynet has sent Terminators back through time to kill the Connors and other future Resistance leaders. However, the Connors also have allies from the future, including John's uncle, Derek Reese, and a re-programmed Terminator named Cameron whose sole duty is to protect John.<br /><br />The series debuted on the Fox television network in January 2008 and ran for a nine-episode first season before returning in September and completing a full second season of 22 episodes. The Season Two finale aired on April 10 2009; it is currently being decided whether the show will be renewed for a third season.<br /><br /><br /><span style="font-size:200%;">About This Site</span><br /><br />Despite mediocre ratings during Season One's nine-episode run, the show was renewed for a second season based on extensive critical acclaim and a dedicated fan base. After being moved to a less-competetive Friday night time slot, Season Two continued to garner critical acclaim and modestly expanded the show's audience (particularly through DVR views and online viewing methods such as Hulu, iTunes and Fox On Demand), but the future of the show is still uncertain. Fox will unveil their fall press release on May 18; until then, whether or not the show will return for a third season is purely speculation.
